VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship”
The VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and Sport Clips Haircuts offer the “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship”. This scholarship is awarded to service members and veterans for help toward educational costs. Scholarship winners are awarded up to $5,000 that must be used toward tuition and fees from an accredited institution. To be eligible you must be an active, retired or honorably discharged member of the military, or a member of the Reserve or National Guard and demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
Imagine America Military Award Program
If you demonstrate a financial need and are an active duty member, reservist, or an honorably discharged or retired veteran wishing to pursue your education, the Imagine America Military Award Program (MAP) may be one you’ll want to apply for. Imagine America MAP provides $1,000 scholarships to participating colleges and universities.
AFCEA War Veterans Scholarships
If you’re majoring in a C4I-related field and are currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college or university, the AFCEA War Veterans Scholarships may be for you. Qualifying C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence) fields include computer programming, electrical engineering, network security, robotics technology and more. These scholarships are offered to active-duty and honorably discharged veterans who served in either Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom Operations.
Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program
The Veterans Affairs will help fund college tuition through the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program. This program partners colleges and universities with Veterans Affairs to help cover education expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition. The college or university can cover up to 50 percent of those expenses, and Veterans Affairs will match the same amount.
